poor little me

Aloha all,
Life is still good here. Too busy at work but at least I can't bring it home.

No golf today, car failure for the gf, she took mine.

During this past week my computer used for mail had an issue. It won't turn on, new power supply, still dead. So. Ray has limited backup. Ray has no current method of powering up the old hard drive (it has a new fangle power connector and without a car at present, I can't go shopping again (BestBuy did not have anything).

So Ray has no access to a lot of pictures. Important in the future but not critical yet.
Ray has limited bookmarks. That one will be interesting as I don't know how to get them off a harddrive not running windows. That will not be pretty.
Ray has lost his email. That will be worst. I hope to access the PST files somehow when I get access again. Ray has no EMAIL addresses, NOT GOOD. Request people who would like me to have their email address please send me a 'hello'. For asylum folks, please include folks on the 'normal' crew as cc's if you would be so kind.

A year has gone by and he is still alive!

Are you surprised yet? When you recover, let me know. I'll wait.

Ok. Life in Hawaii is still good. We are under Tsunami watch tonight. The have opened the Emergency center here. Wave expected no earlier than 2:55AM (that is 8AM on the east coast). I am significantly out of the zone. Have not heard any Emergency Broadcast Announcements yet, only in the news.

I continue to enjoy the place. Work is busy and challenging. Congress is of course playing with us as we expect a significant pay cut in 2013 (15 to 20%). Only affects Hawaii and Alaska federal employees.

I enjoy my golf game even if I suck at it :-). It has been slowly improving over time. My game group is going banana's. I of course run a big event every 2 weeks (25 to 30 people). It fills up now in less than an hour. One of the others has started running an event downtown, he gets 10 people or so who go to that. It is truly a success. Need to figure out how to grow it (takes more venue's and opportunities for people to play).

Girlfriend is going to school 2 nights a week and Saturday for medical coding certification. She also works downtown (here class is in the same building she works in). Makes life a bit stressfull. 2 months down, 10 more to go.

Enjoy! Don't yell at me to much for falling off the face of the earth. As Trish Punch said, I'll go back to lurking.

Aloha all,
Remember me? The guy who fell into the center of the pacific ocean and disappeared?

Yeah I know I am terrible at this stuff. So I am just saying hi. Not much new here, still playing golf and games. Missed out on the snow I am sorry to say.... NOT

I have a family wedding in October so I may be making rounds about that time.
Still no plans to return to the east coast.

Ok. time to crawl back under my rock and carry on.

25 years and counting

Today is the first day of year 26 working for the Government.

Just a little trivia.

Life in Hawaii is still good. Not much unusual. Game group is still very active with 20 people coming this Saturday.

Plans for July are much up in the air, not sure I will get to anywhere beyond my parents.

Aloha!

Ray Likes to

Ok, you got me on this one.

Google "ray likes to"

The first entry caught my eye:
1. Ray Likes to Torture Her Food Slowly - so what if is started with Rachael. It sounds good to me
2. Ray likes to cook, make beer, and hates mowing the lawn.  (Sounds good but I have not tried the beer part and I usually like the yard work)
3. Ray likes to ski and cruise around the Caribbean on his yacht with his wife - Ray got sick on the whale watching boat oh so many years ago.
4. Ray Likes to Pray by Fr. Fox. - Doubtful
5. Ray likes to encourage young artists — especially minority artists — to try cartooning. - huh?
6. Sir Ray likes to buck fashionable trends. - What's fashion? (I like the Sir part)
7. without physical blemish--the way Ray likes to be seen. - ROFL
8. Ray likes to practice catch and release, and treats all the fish with great care when releasing. Sushi/sashimi is good, treating it with care all the time.
9. Ray likes to study his subjects and do drawings before painting them with acrylics on masonite panels for better detail. - He is just so artistic - NOT
10. Ray likes to play fast. He’s a quick beyblader. He does not like to hold back and attacks his opponent fast to finish him off. - He has not seen me play WOW.

Our Bands are passing on

Another sad day for rock and roll.

Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboard player Billy Powell, who played on such hits as "Sweet Home Alabama" and survived the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, died today. He was 56.

Aloha, Look Mom, two entries in one month!

Aloha all,

Spoke to my boss this week, acknowledge that we both probably messed up a bit but he did apologize for the way he handled it. Still took me 2 days to just let it drop. We had a pleasant and friendly conversation on the 5 minute walk out of work.

Watch only a small portion of the Inauguration. Found it amusing they bumbled it, but we are all human. It is amazing that this country can change leadership every four or eight years with a party. You look at other countries and it takes a death or other drastic action for such a change to occur. Something we all should be proud of.

I have finally figured out why the election went the way it did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJuNgBkloFE. I am not saying everyone that voted for Obama are depicted in the video, but that seems to reflect a vote done by feel, not the facts. Not that McCain was the end all answer.

I still find it amazing that we are trying to spend our way out of our problems. It makes no sense to spend money on short term projects and expect it to solve longer term issues. How does unemployment benefits or health care expand our economy? the are great social programs for some of the things that hurt us but is that what Government is for? It might be cruel and cold, but the constitution allows for the pursuit of happiness, not the promise of it.

New car

Oh I should probably mention I did buy myself a Christmas present. A new car. A Hyundai Sonata. I chose it over a Toyoto becuase it basically seemed to score the same (7.5 compared to 8.0) in report and it had more creature comforts than the Camry. Bigger trunk and better radio. Has an XM radio but no XM available in the 50th state.

Maybe this is once per month

Hi all,
Looks like I seem to be saying something once a month. I hope I do that at least so you know I am alive!

Life in Hawaii is still good. Today however I am listening to the news and the school cancelations for tomorrow (it is 3:30PM on Thursday). They are expecting winds up to 60 mpg and a very high server on east and north shores. The government has ordered people living on the beach to move to shelters and some camp grounds have been closed in preparation. On the way home, I watch some telephone lines shaking in the wind. It was a LOT, I felt they could fall at any time. At one point they had, the telephone cable was on the ground between several poles.

Work is crazy. I'll just leave it at that to keep my blood pressure down. I will say that today when walking out of a meeting I was discussing one particular person and how he did not understand what I was saying. Turned around and saw him walking down the stairs behind us. Nothing was said. He is substantially senior to both of us.

You all need to take a quiz. Are you smarter or stoopider than average? http://www.flashbynight.com/test

Aloha and happy new year.
